Bernard Lawrence Burks, 78, of Gladstone, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home.

Born in Buckingham County, VA, on June 11, 1947, he was the son of the late Elsie Bryant Burks and the late Albert Crews Burks. He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. Bernard was a very proud Patriot, serving his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed watching Westerns, especially Gunsmoke.

He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Burks-Bottorff and Husband, Calvin Leroy; five grandchildren, Kaylab Burks (Lindsey), Holden Doss (Laken), Jacob Doss (Jaclynn), Kelsie Doss, and Jessie Eberly (Shawn); eight great-grandchildren, Brinlee, Gage, Kinsley, Bo Riley, Jase, Kimber, Braden, and Remington; and two siblings, Gertrude B. Eagle and Linda B. Totty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Al Burks, Melvin Burks, Betty Cready, Hazel Tyree, Gloria Burks McCormick, and James A. Burks, Sr.

A Graveside service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Burks Family Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Buddy Bryant.
