Benjamin Lee Mawyer, 28, of Hollywood Road, Appomattox died Saturday, January 3, 2009.
Born, June 15, 1980, in Lynchburg, Ben was the son of James and Judy Mawyer of Appomattox and father to Zane Allen Mawyer, whom his daddy called "Boss" and Taylor Grace Mawyer whom her daddy called "Tata Bug". He is also survived by his sister, Jamie Mawyer and her fiancé, Michael Scott Knight; niece, Jalynne Noelle Mawyer; nephews, Michael Scott Knight, Jr. and Ryan Hunter Knight and his paternal grandmother, Delsie Harrup of Appomattox.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harry and Florine Donoughe.
Ben was employed by Coleman Adams Construction, was a former member of the Toga Fire Department where he was a first responder and a former member of the 4-H Shooting Sports. Ben was caring, good hearted, and was a perfect example of what a true friend was. He brought laughter and joy to all those who crossed his path, no one was ever a stranger to him and has left us with the fondest of memories. Any thought of him puts a smile on our faces. He was one of a kind and God will never be able to create one like him.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church by Rev. Richard Vannoy. Burial will follow in Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7-8:30 pm at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
