Obituary

Benjamin Hunter Marshall, 84, of Lee-Grant Avenue, Appomattox, died at his residence on April 9, 2013. He was the husband of Peggy Jarrell Marshall.
Ben was born in Charleston, WVA, July 23, 1928 a son of the late Pearl Caldwell and Schuyler Benjamin Marshall. He served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Air Force as a pilot during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Grace Hills Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Appomattox Jaycees and Woodmen of the World. In addition, he served as a Board Member for Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Ben was the owner of Marshall's Department Store from 1955-1988, then owned Reflection of Fashion from 1989-1994. He volunteered with Appomattox Tourism for many years.
After his retirement, Ben enjoyed visiting the sick and shut-ins of the community.
In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by four children, Stephen Hunter Marshall and his wife, Mary of Appomattox; David Jarrell Marshall and his wife, Susan of Forest; Mark Douglas Marshall and his wife, Janet Bowers of Richmond; Timothy Jones Marshall and his wife, Kristina of Woodbridge; a brother, Douglas M. Marshall and his wife, Peggy of West End, NC; a sister-in-law, Ellen Gay Moser of Naperville, IL and seven grandchildren, Mary Ann Simpson, Grant Marshall, Caitlin Gerber, Ross Marshall, Tyler Marshall, Logan Marshall, Evan Marshall and one great-grandchild, Hayden Marshall and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at Grace Hills Baptist Church, Friday April 12, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. officiated by the Rev. Adam Tyler. Burial will follow in Reedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, today (Thursday) from 7-8:30 PM and other times at the residence.
