Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin, 84, of Isbell St. died Wednesday afternoon, July 25, 2012 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He and his wife, Barbara Lee Franklin, shared their lives together for over 40 years.

Born in the Hollywood community of Appomattox Co. on June 16, 1928, he was a son of the late Abdulah and Ella Gobble Franklin. He was a member of Bethel Bible Church and a former mechanic with Amco Transmissions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph Wayne Franklin of Baltimore, MD; four daughters, Deborah Lynn Donohue of Keymar, MD, Susan Franklin of Toddsville, MD, Michelle (Scott) Walls of Rustburg and Cynthia (William) Hill of Nellysford; three brothers, Clarence (Ruth) Franklin, Judson (Jack) Franklin all of Appomattox, and A. B. Franklin, Jr. of Charlotte C.H.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Louis, and Alex Franklin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 28, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Orville Gregory. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8:30 P.M. today (Friday) July 27 and at other times at the residence.
