Rebecca (Becca) Catherine Almond, 22, of Lynchburg, died accidently on Thursday, May 26, 2011, while doing one of the things she loved, hiking with friends.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on July 23, 1988, she was the daughter of Malcolm Scott and Sherl Lynn Martin Almond of Spout Spring. Becca was a member of New Beginnings Ministry, the Lynchburg City co-ed softball league, and was employed by Lynchburg Health and Rehabilitation Center. In 2010 she was inducted into the Dixie Youth Softball Hall of Fame.

In addition to her parents, Scott and Lynn, she is survived by a brother, Jacob Scott Almond of Spout Springs; grandparents Betty and Cliff Drinkard of Lynchburg; aunts and uncles, Donnie and Linda Almond, Nita and Darrell Moore all of Appomattox, Ben and Melinda Martin of Thomasville, GA, and Robin Martin of Forest; and a special friend, Ryan McCarty of Lynchburg.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Gene Martin and Donald and Becky Almond and her great grandparents, Malcolm and Gladys Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Liberty Baptist Church, 1709 Church Street, Appomattox by the Rev. Mike Lamb and the Rev. Rusty Small.

The family will receive friends Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, 667 Court Street, Appomattox from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and other times at the residence of her parents.
