Beatrice Overton Meyer Terkelson, 88, of Appomattox, passed from this life on November, 15, 2010, following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Eugene H. Terkelson; her father and mother, Frederick and Mary Reeve Meyer, and her sister, Louise O'Neil.
She is survived by four children, Mary Ellen L'Hommedieu of Concord,VA; Betty Lou Reynolds of Kent, WA; Randy Terkelson and his wife Diane of New Paltz, NY; and Teri Cestaro and her husband Alfonse of Appomattox. In addition, Beatrice is survived by thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Beatrice was born on September 14, 1922 in Greenport, NY. She graduated from Riverhead High School and then married Eugene in 1942. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother; she was also employed by Singer Sewing Corp, A&P Grocery, Hazeltine, and Jimmy's Snack Bar. She was active in the Women of the Moose and in making crafts for church bazaars. She once crocheted 54 children's sweaters to be sent to orphans in Romania. She enjoyed reading, gardening, bingo, and crocheting. While we will miss her here, we know that "to be absent from this body, is to be present with the Lord."
A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Robinson Funeral Home.by Pastor Dave Kountz. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.,Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at the funeral home and other times at her residence on Highland Avenue.
