Bascomb Taylor Almond, Sr., 85, of Rough Creek Rd., died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Appomattox Health and Rehab. He was the husband of the late Doris Lucille Mann Almond.
Born in Appomattox County, May 25, 1924, he was a son of the late Lacy Konney Almond and Virginia Frances Dickerson Almond. He was retired from N&W Railroad.
He is survived by one son, Bascomb Taylor Almond, Jr., and wife, Teresa of Appomattox; two daughters, Essie Reed and husband, Harry of Chatham, Penny Carrico and husband, Donald of Appomattox; one brother, Joseph L. Almond and wife, Ruby of Pamplin, and a sister; Virginia A. Franklin of Appomattox; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
