Barbara Jean Shepherd, 64, of W. James Anderson Hwy., Buckingham, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Heritage Hall in Dillwyn. She was the wife of William J. "Bill" Shepherd, Jr.
Born in Washington, DC, June 15, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Calvin Phelps and Helen Burks Warburton. Barbara was a member of Gladstone Memorial Baptist Church and a retired employee of Thomasville Furniture of Appomattox.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a friend that was like-a-sister, Daphne Amos of Richmond; her mother and father-in-law, Patricia B. and William J. Shepherd, Sr. of Buckingham and numerous cousins and their families.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, July 31, 2009 at Robinson Funeral Home by Dr. James Fetty. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. A time of fellowship with a meal will be held at Gladstone Memorial Baptist Church immediately following the burial service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7-8:30 pm and other times at the residence.
