Audrey Williamson Phelps, 93, of Police Tower Road, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Havilah Everette Phelps.
Born in Appomattox County, July 30, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Ruth Marsh and William Lee Williamson. Audrey was a lifetime member of Red Oak Baptist Church where she served as historian and church clerk for 22 years. She attended Phillips Business College and along with her husband Everette and son Wayne owned and operated Phelps Garage for over 40 years.
She is survived by two children, Everette Wayne Phelps, Sr. and Deborah P. Jamerson both of Appomattox; one brother, Elbert Lee Williamson of Appomattox; five grandchildren, Wayne Phelps, Jr. and wife, Karen, John Phelps and wife, Beth, Ben Phelps and wife, Audrey, Jennifer Jamerson and Thomas Jamerson; nine great-grandchildren, Lydia Phelps, Everette Phelps, Brandon Phelps, Kalee Phelps, Camden Taylor, Blake Scruggs, Alexis Scruggs, T.K. Jamerson and Jessie Jamerson; a daughter-in-law, Sylvia Phelps; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Williamson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Jamerson, two sisters, Nell Cabaniss and Melva Williamson; two brothers, Bill Williamson and Mervin Williamson; two sisters-in-law, Rhoda Dunlop and Ruby Williamson.
A funeral service will be held 3 pm., Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Red Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
