Spout Spring: Arthur Allen Blackwell, 87, of Snapps Mill Rd., died Saturday, August 11, 2007 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of the late Inez Giles Blackwell.
Born in Appomattox Co., he was a son of the late Everette Wilson and Nannie Smith Blackwell. Arthur was a graduate of Stuart High School, a member of Liberty Baptist Church, American Legion Post #104, and was a retired employee of J. E. Jamerson and Sons, Inc. As a member of the U.S. Army he served his country during World War II in the Italian and North African Campaigns.
He is survived by two sons, Charles T. Blackwell of Appomattox and Arthur Ray Blackwell of Lynchburg; a brother, Malcolm Blackwell of Lynchburg; two sisters, Hilda Shrock of Appomattox and Eleanor Walton of Farmville and one granddaughter, Jill Lynn Blackwell of Appomattox.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Brent Blackwell, a sister, Louise Blackard and a brother, Homer Blackwell.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2007 in Liberty Cemetery by the Rev. George Kreidel.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 7-8:30 P.M. today (Monday) and at other times at the residence.
