Obituary
Edith Annette Deel Alvis, 68, of Spanish Oaks Rd., Concord, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of John Pleasant Alvis, III.
Born in Roanoke, VA, on February 5, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Russell Ryland Deel and Mary Lucy Obenshain Deel. Annette was an active member of Hebron Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir. She was an elementary school teacher, teaching in Botetourt, Appomattox, and Campbell Counties.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John Russell (Rusty) and Stephanie G. Alvis; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer A. and Mark T. Perry; four granddaughters, Morgan and Madison Alvis and Marissa and Isabella Perry all of Concord; two sisters, Judy and Mary Deel both of Fincastle and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2011, at Hebron Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Walker with burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
