Coffey
November 28, 1934 – June 21, 2018
Anne Blackwell Coffey of Concord, died on June 21, 2018. She was the wife of Frank Woodson Coffey.
Born in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Nettie Earle Jennings and Robert Murray Blackwell.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Coffey Brinks and husband, Rodney of Richmond; her son, David Abbott Coffey and wife, Lisa Tibbs Coffey and their children, Emma Caroline and Erin Elizabeth Coffey all of Amherst; and her brother, Robert Blackwell of Richmond. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Breeden.
Anne was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University which she attended twice; first at the School of Music where she met Frank, and later in life to attain a degree in Adult Literacy. Anne enjoyed many years of service to church music as well as helping adult learners. She retired from Longwood Center for the Visual Arts.
She grew and collected wildflowers; her respect for the natural world inspired her to support Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Arbor Day Foundation, The Turtles, Ocean Conservancy, and The Bees.
Membership included the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), Dixon Cemetery Historical Association and V. C. U. (formerly R.P.I. a branch of William and Mary) Alumni Association. She was also a member of Heritage United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held in the family section of Concord Cemetery by Dr. Paul Baker, on Sunday, June 24 th at 2 p.m.
