Amanda L. Branch, 78, of Appomattox formerly of Newport News passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born on April 9, 1945, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late John William Childress, Jr. and Rachel Burks Childress. She attended Journey Ministries. She was a supervisor for Bendix/Siemens in Newport News, retiring after 29 years.

She is survived by a sister, Crystal McCormick and husband, Donnie of Appomattox; nieces and nephews; and special care givers, George and Lynn Rivers.

She was preceded in death by a brother, J.W. "Peewee" Childress III and a sister, Evelyn "Sister" McDonald.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Childress and Rev. S.L. Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Amherst Cemetery at 1 pm.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister and brother-in-law Crystal and Donnie McCormick.
