Obituary

Alyssa Helen Matthews Davis, 46 of Lynchburg, Virginia, formerly of Concord, North Carolina, formerly of Enfield, Connecticut, was taken home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.  She was the beautiful, precious, devoted, and loving wife of Robert (Bob) Charles Marshall Davis and mother of Isabella Annette Davis, Andrew Marshall Davis, Peter Charles Davis, and Philip Robert Davis.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on March 18, 1976, she was one of two daughters born to Peggy Annette Matthews, currently of Centreville, Virginia (originally of Enfield, North Carolina) and of the late Allyn Samuel Matthews, both formerly of Fairfax, Virginia, and Enfield Connecticut.  (Allyn Matthews being originally of Baltimore, Maryland).  Alyssa was class president of her Senior class at The MacDuffie School, formerly of Springfield, Massachusetts; received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science as well as in International Studies from American University; and her Master of Business Administration from Central Connecticut State University.

In addition to her husband, children, and mother, she is survived by her sister, Brenda Swann, husband, Jason Swann, and their children, Joshua, Elisha, and Isaiah of Silver Spring, Maryland; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Alyssa was a member of All Peoples Church of Lynchburg and was a former attendee of Fire Church and Concord First Assembly of God, both of Concord, North Carolina.  She was also a former member of Bethany Assembly of God of Agawam, Massachusetts where she and Bob were both baptized and later married on August 5, 2000.

Most recently a homeschool educator for 13 years, Alyssa was previously an employee for The Hartford, where she excelled first as a Personal Lines Auto Bodily Injury Claims Representative in Farmington, Connecticut, then in the Actuarial department in Hartford, Connecticut, and lastly as a Business Analyst for the Small Commercial Underwriting department in Charlotte, North Carolina.  She had also just recently passed her CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) in the early part of 2022.

Although she would not necessarily term herself so, she was artistic and generous with her creativity, whether that be in completing painting and craft projects with her children, making blankets for her newborn children and those of family, or decorating for family birthdays and other special celebrations.  She was a wonder in the kitchen, cooking and baking many wonderful dishes fondly remembered by her family.  She was an author, having just completed her first book.  She was brilliant and a wonderful home school educator to their four children.  She was a burgeoning gardener and enjoyed spending time with her family tending her small vegetable beds.  She was extremely intelligent and thoughtful and family, and friends were blessed by the words of wisdom and knowledge that she would impart.

Most importantly, Alyssa was a woman of intense faith and a firm believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.  She was unabashed in her support for the sanctity of life, and for many Christian ministries that were delivering the Word of the Lord.  She valued her relationship with the Lord, and her time of study in God's Word so that she might always walk in an ever-increasing understanding of the Word and was dedicated to sharing God's Word and love with others.  In this, as in most things, she was uncompromising, intentional, and consistent, and dedicated many years pouring into her family and friends, and highly desired that all the world would come to know the saving grace of the Lord.

She is and will be greatly missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023, at All Peoples Church, 727 Old Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
