Appomattox- Allison Twyman (Peter) Thomas 80, of Route #5, died Friday morning April 29, 2005 at the Appomattox Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Myrtle Moore Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was born in Appomattox County January 29, 1925 a son of the late Vernard D. Thomas and Georgia Doss Thomas. He was retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries, attended Liberty Baptist Church and was a member of American Legion Post #104 and the Fleet Reserve. A proud veteran with 20 years service in the United States Navy Mr. Thomas served during World War II, the Korean and Cuban Conflicts.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce West Patillo and Renae T. McCoy and her husband, Robert, three grandsons Brenden Robert -Allison McCoy, Zane Kristopher-Thomas McCoy and Logan O'Brien McCoy all of Appomattox.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth T. Thomas and Frances W. Beasley and two brothers, W.C. (Red) Thomas and Lordon D. Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be remembered by his children as a father who took time to enjoy life with his family.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday May 2, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Jerry Childress and Pastor Joanne Newman. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. and at other times at the home of Robert & Renae McCoy.
