Allen Lee "Pokey" Mayberry, 66, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Pamela Cutshall Mayberry.

Born in Appomattox County, July 24, 1945, he was a son of the late Floyd Twyman and Mary Odell Reed Mayberry. Pokey was the owner and operator of Dixie Blend Service Station and Mayberry Excavating. He was a member of Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Ricky Lee Mayberry, and his wife, Rhonda, of Spout Spring; a daughter, Jennifer Jo M. Wardell, of Appomattox; a brother, Rev. J.D. Mayberry, and his wife, Jean; three sisters, Mildred Sherlin, and her husband, Charles, of Spout Spring, Gloria Caldwell, and her husband, Travis, of Lynchburg, and Betty Dotson, and her husband, Alfred, Sr., of Appomattox; two step-children, April Goff and her husband, Gary, of Concord, and Cameron Tramell, of Manassas; seven grandchildren, Jade Mayberry Barringer and her husband, Danny, Shayne Lee Mayberry, Alexus Wardell, Cameron Tramell, Jr., Lilia Ann Tramell, Caleb Tramell, and Andy Coles.

Pokey was preceded in death by two brothers, Twyman Mayberry and Joe Jessie Mayberry, a sister, Mary Lee McGatha, and a granddaughter, Taylor Rain Tramell.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Phillips officiating. A private burial will be held in the Mayberry Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, Friday night, and other times at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Rhonda Mayberry.
