Obituary

Alice Campbell Thomas, 87, of Spout Spring, died Sunday, July 6, 2008 in The Summitt. She was the wife of the late Harvey Alton Thomas.
Born in Amherst County, May 27, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Manuel Campbell and Bessie Pribble Campbell. Alice was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law: Pat and Dennis Torrence of Appomattox, Debbie and Richard Johnson of Mechanicsville, and Kay and Jimmy Bondurant of Appomattox: one sister, Louise C. Cash of Amherst: three grandchildren, Zane Torrence and wife Sheila, of Appomattox, Thomas Johnson of Mechanicsville, and Elizabeth Johnson Corder and husband Justin, of Mechanicsville: two great-grandchildren, Morgan Leigh Torrence and Caleb William Corder: numerous nieces and nephews: brother-in-law and wife, Morris and Jean Thomas of Amherst and a sister-in-law, Lillian M. Campbell of Lynchburg.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Manuel (Buck) Campbell, Jr.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Summitt for the loving care given their mother.
Funeral Services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at St. Marks Episcopal Church, Clifford, VA., by the Rev. Charles Carman with burial to follow in Amherst Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, and other times at the home of Pat and Dennis Torrence, River Ridge Rd, Appomattox.
Alice enjoyed her flowers while here on earth. It was her request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Marks Youth Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 36 Clifford, VA, 24533; Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 165 Concord, VA 24538, or a charity of your choice.
