Alice Virginia Tolbert Baldwin, 82, of Piney Ridge Road, Pamplin, died Friday, May 10, 2019 at Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Aubrey Edward Baldwin.

Born in Appomattox County, Va., on March 7, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Mazie Goin and Emmitt Tolbert, Sr. She was a member of Elon Baptist Church and retired from Thomasville Furniture.

She is survived by six children, Virginia Fulcher and husband, Edward of Appomattox, Billy Edward Baldwin and wife, Deborah Ann, Peggy Gobble all of Pamplin, Roger Baldwin and wife, Faye of Appomattox, Gene Baldwin and wife, Theresa of Pamplin and Nancy Letterman and husband, Steve of Appomattox; four sisters, Annabelle Weaver of Pamplin, Loretta Robinson (Ernie) of Charlotte County, Barbara Tolbert of Lynchburg, and Georgia Sterns (Robert) of Bedford; two brothers, Ray Tolbert (Georgia) of Nelson and Emmitt Tolbert, Jr. and Linda of Madison Heights; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Fulcher; six brothers, James, Bobby, Thomas, Bill, Jack, and Dan Tolbert; and three sisters, Gracie Barksdale, Betty Smith, and Ruth Woods.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2019, at Elon Baptist Church by the Rev. David Sexton and the Rev. Steve Tyree. Burial will follow in the Pamplin Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of her son, Gene Baldwin.
