Alfred Eugene Henderson, 72, of Salem Road, Spout Spring, departed this life and went to help out in Heaven on July 23, 1020. He was married to Leola "Tootsie" Ferguson Henderson for 52 years.
"Al Pappa" was born January 4, 1938, in Beloit, Kansas; he was a son of Clarence and Mag Krone Henderson. He was a member of Glory Baptist Church and retired after 33 years from the Lynchburg Foundry. After retiring he was a helper to many people. He helped at Martin Lumber Co. H.H. Moore Trucking, Fred Jones Well Co, FWC Trucking and proudly helped his grandson at Henderson Electrical, Heating and Air. He served his country during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Henderson is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Janice Henderson and Jeffery and Sara Henderson all of Appomattox; three brothers, Donald Henderson of Belleville, KS, Jerry Henderson of Bennington, KS, and Steve Henderson of Enid, OK; two sisters, Gloria Henderson of Randolph, VT and Mary Alice Wilcox of Watts, OK; six grandchildren, Michael Henderson and his wife Kim, Dana Carter, Paul Henderson and his wife Lara, Jason Henderson and his wife Crystal, Heather McFadden and her husband Andy, and Derek Wooten; five great-grandchildren, Justin Henderson, Linsay Jordan, Timothy Henderson, D.J. Henderson, and Jacob Henderson all of Appomattox; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Albert Henderson and William Henderson and an infant sister.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, July, 26 2010, at Glory Baptist Church, by Rev. Jeff Worley, and Rev. Jerry Childress. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the funeral service and other times at his residence. The burial will follow in Spout Spring Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and Veterans of Foreign Wars #9855 combined honor guard.
