Dr. Albert Andrew Fratrick, 89, of Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg, died Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was the husband of Virginia (Ginny) Matheny Fratrick for 66 years.
Born in McAdoo, Penn., on September 13, 1927, he was a son of the late Catherine Yurechko and Michael Andrew Fratrick. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in WW II, a member of the American Legion Post #104, and a charter member of Our Lady of Peace. He was a graduate of the University of Richmond and the Medical College of Virginia; serving his residency in Roanoke. Dr. Fratrick retired from Appomattox Family Practice, where he worked from1959 until 1999.
In addition to his wife he is survived three daughters, Andrea Fratrick of Boulder, Colo., Kathy Fratrick of Estero, Fla., and Karen McFadden and husband, Tony of Pamplin; a son, Albert Andrew Fratrick, Jr. of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Marc Sciortino, Michael Sciortino, Andrew Sciortino, Matthew Sciortino, Karen Faith Dowden, Sydney Fratrick, and Blake Fratrick; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Postupack of Conn. and Joanne DeBias of Penn.
He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., on Monday, August 7, 2017, at Robinson Funeral Home. A private family burial with Military Rites will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Fellowship Fund at Westminster Canterbury, 501 V. E. S. Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24503 or Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, PO Box 668, Appomattox, VA 24522.
