Albert Lee Ferguson, 88, of Appomattox, transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal home on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Albert was born on July 17, 1929, to the late Israel and Mary Ferguson in Appomattox County. He had six brothers that preceded him in death, Eugene, Percy, Thurman, Coleman, Fred and Boyd; four sisters, Sue, Annie, Josephine and Mable. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Concord, and was the Father of the Church. Albert retired from Lynchburg Foundry.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 46 years, Lucy M. Ferguson; six children, Curtis Ferguson (Alice), Mary Glover (Stanley), Charles Ferguson (Ann), of Appomattox, Jo Ann Carpenter (David), of Madison Heights, Lagina Ferguson of Appomattox, Katina Henry (Brian), of Spout Spring; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister Mary Banks of Cleveland, OH; a host of nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law; and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm., Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Pastor Donald Foster and Rev. Jewel Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Rites accorded by post #104 and VFW#9855 combined honor guard.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
