Abigail McKenna Haney, 66, of Appomattox, VA passed away on the Twelfth Day of August 2006. She is survived by her beloved husband of forty-six years, Charles W. Haney.
Born in Trenton N J, she was the daughter of the late James Francis McKenna and Marguerite Mosher McKenna. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Christopher McKenna.
In addition to her husband Charles, she is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Haney McMichael and her husband Timothy of Leonardtown, MD, Catherine Moore Haney and her friend Jerry Curtis of Key West, FL, Charlotte Marie Scott and her husband Joe of Harrisburg, PA and Grace Ann Clark of Charlottesville, VA; two sons, Seamus Aloysius Haney of Appomattox, VA and Sean O'Flaherty Haney and his wife Heather of Marietta, GA; a brother James Patrick McKenna and his wife, Mary of Edgewater Park, N.J.; a beloved friend Ellen Anthonisen and her husband George of Solebury, PA , six wonderful grandchildren who brought her much joy, several beloved nieces and nephews, four dedicated friends Fran Lecco, Winnie Clark, Brenda Meshejian and Bernadette Servis and a devoted and loving church community. Abigail and her family wish to thank Hospice of the Hills for their advocacy, care and compassion during her illness.
Mrs. Haney spent many years in health care. She was the President of Consortium Network which provided overview and advocacy services to agencies involved in long term care in the Philadelphia, PA area. Following her move to Key West, FL, she was the Director of a nurse registry serving the Florida Keys and also served as President of the Florida Keys Inter-Agency Council. Upon her move to Appomattox she became involved in the Free Clinic of Central Virginia where she was on its Board of Directors and most recently served as Board President. She was committed to the mission of the clinic that provides full medical and dental services to those without health insurance.
An Evening Visitation will be held Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Robinson's Funeral Home, 667 Court Street, Appomattox, VA. Mrs. Haney was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Appomattox where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday the Nineteenth of August at 11 o'clock in the morning. A private Internment will be held at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yardley, PA.
