Abdullah Bernes Franklin, Jr., 89 of Chase City, died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of the late Caroline Mann Franklin.
Born August 19, 1923 in Appomattox Co., he was a son of the late Ella Gobble and Abdullah B. Franklin, Sr. He was a member of Bethel Bible Church and had served his country during WW II as a member of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by four children; Tammy F. Hite and her late husband, Hank, and Rhonda F. Meade, all of Chase City, Thomas Henry Franklin and Caroline F. Wright, both of Lynchburg; two brothers, Jack Franklin, Spout Spring and Clarence Franklin, Appomattox; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews including a beloved granddaughter, Haley K. Franklin, whom they raised as a daughter from infancy; Sister-in-Law, Ann Mann and her late husband, Rouse Lee.
He was preceded in death by a son, A.B. Franklin, III, grandson, Lonnie Franklin and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home by Pastor Blonnie Gregory. Burial will be held in Concord Cemetery with military rites accorded by American Legion Post #104 and V.F.W. #9855 combined honor guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
