Obituary

Aubrey Floyd (Dick) Johnson, 83, of Bible Baptist Rd., Appomattox, went home to be with His Lord on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Edna Mae Goad Johnson for 61 years.

Born in Appomattox County, on September 25, 1930, he was a son of the late Earlie Davidson and Bernice Aubrey (B. A.) Johnson. Church was an important part of his life as he was concerned about the salvation of everyone and took time to witness to others. Dick was an active member of Bible Baptist Church where he served in many capacities over the years including head deacon, trustee, treasurer, song leader, choir director, Sunday school teacher, youth director, and was involved in the calling of new pastors. He also helped to build the church's original building. He was a US Army veteran and co-owner and operator of Pierce-Johnson Lumber Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Judy Johnson and Kim Ramos both of Lynchburg; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Marisol Ramos of Lynchburg; a brother, Fred D. (Bookie) Johnson and wife, Donna of Appomattox; a sister, Helen J. Pierce of Appomattox and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Chad Pierce.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014, in Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Jonathan Watson and Pastor Robert E. Lee, Jr. Burial will follow in Old Herman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Friday at the church and other times at the residence.
