Arris Beryl Covington, 83, of Appomattox, died Saturday, February 22, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Annie Rebecca (Becky) Moore Covington.
Born in Appomattox County, on September 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Iva Maye Ferguson and Arris Walker Covington. He was a member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church. Beryl was a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired from Thomasville Furniture.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Covington and wife, Teresa of Appomattox and Walker Covington and Mary of Thomasville, NC; a daughter, Marjorie Riner and husband, Craig of Monroe; nine grandchildren, Chris Covington and wife, Amy; Daren Covington and wife, Katie; Lilly, Walker, and Lindsay Covington; and Olivia, Holly, Rachel and Heather Riner; a great-grandson, Samuel; a sister, Louise Randall of Oklahoma City, OK and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church by Rev. Larry Mann and Pastor E. W. Lucas. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and other times at his residence.
