Rev. Howard L. Rosen, Jr., 60 of Mt. Rush Highway, Buckingham, died July 7, 2013 while on vacation in Illinois due to complications from a previous heart surgery. He was married to Cynthia (Cindy) Hill Rosen “the Love of his Life”.

Howard was born in Lynchburg, May 23, 1953 a son of the late Julia Irene Bryant and Howard Lightfoot Rosen, Sr. He was a Minister and the Pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. For many years prior to his call to the ministry he was a professional drummer. Howard also served as a Youth Pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC where his focus was on a bus ministry bringing youth to church.

In addition to Cindy, he is survived by two sons, Stuart Rosen (Niki) and Travis Rosen all of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Payden, Mahala Corra and Sydney; sister, Dianne Catlin (Michael) of Lynchburg; niece, Angela Moss (Derek); great-niece, Kali; great-nephew, Kamryn; two step-children, Melanie McManama (Doug), Wyatt Greene (Amy); three step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild;step brothers and sister, John Scruggs, Jr. (Patsy), Steve Scruggs (Phyllis), Ronnie Scruggs (Kim), Trisha Gallamore (Chuck).

Howard was loved by all his relatives, his church family and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday July 13, 2013 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Carroll Martin and Dr. Lawrence Randall. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A time of visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service.
