Daniel W. Heath

Died: June 01, 2012

Daniel William. Heath Jr., 84, left this world peacefully at home on June 1st 2012. He was born in Washington D.C. on September 13th, 1927 to parents Daniel William Heath, Sr. and Agnes Delaney Heath. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara C. Heath and his sister Mary Catherine Ballard.

He is survived by his four children, Victoria McGetrick of Auburn, NY; Greg Heath and wife Rita of Appomattox, VA; Michele Newman and husband Steve of Venus, FL; and Kathy Heath of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Marci Miles of Rochester, NY, Steven McGetrick of Indiana, Greg Sutherland and wife Melissa of Lynchburg, VA, Christopher Sutherland of Appomattox, Amanda Dyer of Charlottesville, VA, James Heath of Johnson City, TN, Rob Stringham and wife Lori of Alexandria, VA, Leslie White and husband Ryan of Venice, FL, Christina Engelsberg and husband Peter of Bradenton, FL, Casey Malone of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Samantha Williams and husband Brad, Sarah Traufler, and Steven Newman all of Troy, OH; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was a graduate of George Washington University and a WW II Navy veteran serving on the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge. He worked as a taxi cab driver for Red Top in Arlington, VA for over 35 years until his retirement in 2009.

Memorial services will be held at Appomattox Courthouse Presbyterian Church on Friday June 8th, 2012 at 10:00 am by the Rev. Loren Mitchell and Danny Mullins with a reception at the church immediately following the service. Family and friends will be received at the home of Greg and Rita Heath throughout the week and after the services Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, 1267 4-H Camp Road, Appomattox, VA 24522.
