Flossie G. Wingfield

Flossie Goodrich Wingfield, 94, of First Street, Appomattox, died Sunday night at her residence. She was the widow of Lester Irby Wingfield and at his death in 2010 they had been married for 70 years.

Flossie was born in Smithfield, VA on September 18, 1917 a daughter of the late Flossie Annette Bradshaw and Earnest Carroll Goodrich. She was a life time member of Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. Flossie was a graduate of Newport News Business College, was employed by Art Nite Wear in Lynchburg for 26 years and later retired from Appomattox Garment Co. after 17 years of service.

Flossie is survived by nephews and nieces, Carroll & JoAnne Goodrich of Appomattox, George Goodrich of Ivor, Dr. Joseph & Tina Martin of Marlton, NJ, Virginia Martin of Tinton Falls, NJ and Judy Brennan of North Carolina, a brother-in-law, Herman Wingfield of Pamplin, and numerous nieces and nephews from the Wingfield side of the family.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Carroll, Ernest and Leslie Goodrich and a sister, Virginia Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday August 1, 2012 in Robinson Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Russell Cheatham. Burial will follow in Old Herman Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 1:00 P.M. until time of service.
