Carol Lee Preble Notestein, 65, of Morning Star Road, Appomattox, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, in Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on December 18, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Francis Vernon Preble and Marion Anna Bowers Preble. Carol was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald Earl Notestein; two daughters, Jennifer Rebecca N. Shaner and husband Philip John of Appomattox and Julie Dawn N. Guthrie of Bedford; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Chuck) Preble and wife, Lisa Mills of Julian, CA; and a sister, Sondramae Couser and husband, George of Santa Cruz, CA.

A funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2012, in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church by Father Jim Gallager. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
