Clyde Melvin Litchford, Sr., 73, of Gladstone, left this world on May 1, 2012 to be with his Lord and Savior. Born in Nelson County, on July 10, 1938, he was the son of the late Lloyd Allen and Nettie Pearl Tyree Litchford. Clyde was a deacon of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Lynchburg.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hettie (Rena) Litchford; two sons, David (Duke) Litchford, Sr. and wife Juanita of Manassas and Mark Litchford and wife Kathy of Gladstone; two daughters Kathy Litchford of Appomattox and Brenda Jamerson and husband Tony of Gladstone; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Christian Litchford and wife Lucy of Appomattox; and three sisters, Deloris Ferguson and Nannie Christian of Appomattox and Eunice Josephine Staton of Lynchburg. He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Jr.; a daughter, Regina; four brothers, Thomas, Mack, C. D., and Bobby and four sisters, Edna, Pansy, Dorothy, and Carolyn.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Carlton Duck. Burial will follow in the Jamerson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, May 3, from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence.
